I thought we should have our own page. As you are all probably aware, the set texts for this course are:
Dune
Brave New World
Neuromancer
2001 A Space Odyssey
We are required to study three of the four set texts.
Students usually write about two set texts and two related texts in the exam. You MUST have a second related text very thoroughly prepared if you are aiming for a mark above 50%. You should also plan to discuss a variety of text types and make sure you focus on the GENRE as a whole, using each of your texts to support your ideas about the genre.
The first assessment is the creative writing task. I imagine everyone is well on their way to completing something in preparation for that next term.
The Assessment Schedule is as follows:
Creative Response due in the Half Yearly Exam Period
Presentation due
Essay due
Trial HSC in
In a creative writing task: Plan your work for 10 minutes. Then write your narrative for 60minutes. Then write approximately one page of reflection for 10 minutes. This will enable you to prepare well for exams.
Please note that the reflection is required because we will need to provide a grade on the outcomes of the report. Your mark will be a synthesis of the story and the reflection, but the grades will be determined separately. I hope that makes sense. Ask me to explain it to the classes if you are not sure.
